Engage Youth Africa Initiative (EYA Initiative) hosted an impactful educational event at CMS Grammar School, Bariga, on Friday, May 27, 2022. The event, attended by 60 students from 7 schools, aimed to inspire and empower youth towards success through character development and academic excellence.

The day commenced with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by an introduction to the vision and objectives of the EYA Initiative. Mr. Babatunde Adelodun, Tutor-General of AfterSchool Organization, delivered an inspiring pep talk on “Good Character and Success,” emphasizing the role of self-affirmation and interest in achieving success. He highlighted the importance of developing interest in various areas, citing successful figures like Dr. Ben Carson and Mark Zuckerberg.

The event featured two main competitions: a Quiz Competition and a Debate Competition. CMS Grammar School emerged as the winner of the Quiz Competition, while Eva Adelaja Girls Senior Secondary Grammar School claimed victory in the Debate Competition. Cash prizes, medals, and plaques were awarded to the winners to recognize their achievements.

Mr. Julius Ebhodaghe, Vice Principal Administration of CMS Grammar School, expressed gratitude to the EYA Initiative for organizing the event and encouraged further outreach efforts to benefit more students and youths in the community.

Reflecting on the day’s proceedings, organizers highlighted key lessons learned, including the importance of early event planning, backup power supply, and timely permit applications to the Ministry of Education.

Additionally, the announcement of the maiden edition of the National Essay Competition for Senior Secondary Schools in Nigeria marked a significant milestone in the EYA Initiative’s commitment to promoting educational excellence and youth empowerment.

The event served as a testament to the EYA Initiative’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of leaders and change-makers, leaving a positive impact on all participants and setting the stage for future endeavors in youth development and education.
